Echuca police call for help after stolen car and trailer dumped

By Ivy Jensen

POLICE are appealing for information into the theft of a car and trailer from Echuca on the weekend.

Thieves stole a 2009 Nissan Navara and the 6x4 trailer it was towing, while they were parked outside an Eyre St property between 10pm Saturday and early Sunday.

"Thieves smashed the rear passenger side window and hotwired the car," Echuca's Senior Constable Scott Newton said.

The trailer, full of firewood, was found dumped in Banyule State Forest yesterday afternoon.

The car was found hidden behind scrub at the back of the EDNA netball courts in the Echuca South Football oval complex.

"There is no damage apart from the smashed window," Snr Constable Newton said.

"We're not sure if the car was used in any crime at this stage."

Snr Constable Newton appealed to anyone who had information to come forward.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or has information can contact Echuca police on 5483 1500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
